UAE to provide assistance worth Rs 1 billion for Nepal energy development


The United Arab Emirates government says it will provide a support worth Rs 1.13 billion to Nepal for the energy sector’s development in the Himalayan country.
The agreement to provide the one billion dollar assistance was made during a recent meeting of International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) in Abu Dhabi.
Nepal has sent a delegation led by Energy Minister Barsha Man Pun to the annual meeting.
“We will work to promote renewable energy and biogas with this support,” minister Pun tells Onlinekhabar after the agreement the government would launch a biogas project in 69 municipalities of the country.
Nepali Ambassador to the UAE Krishna Prasad Dhakal says the support is a part of the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development. This is the first time that Nepal has received a support from the fund.
